Acqua del Garda is created from the essence of a magical place and from the scents of its land and fruits.
Discover the olive road of Garda from Gardone Riviera to Sirmione. During this journey you’ll pass secular olive trees, old buildings that seem to caress the very blue sky, dolomitic hills and towers, hidden by the ivy. It is an explosion of colors and perfumes.
The road of the oil of Garda DOC from Gardone Riviera to Sirmione
This journey starts from the Vittoriale, situated in Gordone Riviera. It is such an amazing landscape with Gordone di Sotto and Gordone di Sopra connected by the Botanic Garden, an open area filled with magic and sensuality. Edelweiss in the middle of orchid meadows, high ferns next to pomegranate trees, streams and waterfalls, ponds with Koi carp, trout and reflected images of dragonflies, dolomitic hills, cactus and towers covered in ivy. It’s an explosion of colors and perfumes. We then proceed our tour in the direction of San Felice del Benaco’s olive yards. One thing you must visit if you’re staying around this area is Isola del Garda, situated only 600 meters from the coast and where, dipped in the green, you can find a tall building that almost touches the sky. We continue our itinerary with Puegnano, well-known for the naturalistic oasis of the three Lakes Sovenigo. During July-August, the largest one flourishes with lotus flowers which are believed to have been imported from Japan. Their perfume is so intense that it pervades the surrounding space.
Then there is Polpenazze. If you stay here during the last weekend of May, you will be with no doubt captivated by Wine of the Valtenesi Festival. Soiano will then welcome you to its amazing village situated on the hills of the Valtenesi. This place is not only rich in vineyards and olive trees, but has also a beautiful castle, placed at 198 m of altitude, which is worth a visit. It was erected on Roman ruins and from its tower you can enjoy one of the most breathtaking views. Another castle attends in Padenghe, between Valtenesi and Lugana. From here you can descend to the picturesque old harbour of Desenzano from where you can see Sirmione at the other side of Lake. Sirmione has beed renown, since Catullo’s time, for its spas and thermal baths.
Garda’s oil and its properties
Garda’s oil has been used since the antiquity not only in the kitchen, but also for skin treatments. The olive oil has lenitive, hydrating and healing properties. It is full of antioxidants and is perfect for defeating the aging process of the cells. The oil consists of a mix of substances similar to cutaneous sebum which protects and heal the skin.
Olive oil is also recognised for its photo protective properties, highly recommended for the protection of the skin from solar radiations.
